Planning

The school year has ended and we have been meeting to get ready for the next school year. Yes I know already, but it has to be done.
Yesterday we got ALL of our centers worked out, plans, and ½ of the writing done. It was A LOT.
Today we finished the writing and decided to do a better job at differentiating in our centers. We got file folders and made 35 folders for each week in our reading curriculum. We got all our writing printed and separated into the folders as well as our reading and math assessments.
Danielle printed all of our centers today and tomorrow we are separating them into the folders. YAYY! Now my school year is going to be MUCH easier than last year.

Here is a sneak peak of what the folders are looking like:

With only a few days left of school it has been quiet crazy here in room 135.

Friday was field day, with a camping theme. The kids started out making smores, I know what your thinking they roasted marshmallows and made smores, but no they actually had to run to a kiddy pool and make a smore out of colored foam paper. Each smore had to consist of two tan pieces, one brown piece, and one white piece. Our class came in third place :(
Next we did archery, the kids had to shoot a rubber arrow through a circular target. If you hit the board that was one point and through the circle was two points, and of course we won. We actually kicked butt with making 22 points while the next closes was 15. :)
Then we did a fun event. The kids had to take a wet, and clean, mop head and go over the head and under the legs all the way through the line until everyone got a chance to start it off. The point was for the kids to get wet.
Last was tug of war and well…we lost :( but we got a sno-cone for all the fun we had.
The kids all sent in money for shirts and I put what they wanted to be when they grew up on the back.

Then Monday we had our end of the year musical program. Parents came and watched us preform with all the other kindergarten classes. Afterward, we came back to room 135 and had an ice cream party with our family members.

Today and tomorrow are half days so lots of playing games and watching movies. While the kids watched a movies I put up our new word wall for next year. Im actually excited about it.

Can’t wait till next year!

Memories of the Year

With only 12 days left of school I would a memory book in teacher-pay-teachers for my kiddos to put together. Since this week is our testing days it was something nice for them to put together.

It was fun for me to see what they thought of me, their schools, and what they liked throughout the year.

Thanks to “First Grade Fever by Christie” for this awesome idea. You can get her Memory book by clicking here, and check out her blog here.

Last Assessments

It is coming down to the wire in getting my assessments done. We just finished our formative math test today, Friday we will be taking our very last formative test, and this week I am testing them for the last time on their letters and sounds.

I have just started testing them by using a "sight word book" that I made up. All their words were put into a document with shading circles by each word so that they could shade in the words they knew. Since next school year we are starting the Leader In Me program they students will have to keep track of their own progress, yes even at the Kindergarten level. This is a great way for them to see how many words they know from quarter to quarter.

This is in my teachers pay teachers store if you want to snag it up for yourself. To head to my store click here.

Enjoy!

Welcome!

Happy Blogging!
I am thrilled to be entering into the blogging world to share my ideas, tips, and stories along the way.

Now, a little bit about myself!  I'm currently finishing up  my 1st year of teaching.  I am currently teaching Kindergarten at Old Kings Elementary School in Palm Coast, Florida. I have learned MANY things in my first year and cannot wait to share most of these things as I go through my next year of teaching Kindergarten. We have done many amazing projects and activities that I am dying to share.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read my blog!
